Il Barocco napoletano
dal mare di Napoli

da Sorrento al Granatello a La Pietra

Naples is one with its sea. The seafront between Castel dell'Ovo and Posillipo, offering a view of the entire Gulf, mount Vesuvius and the islands, is the iconic landmark of the city.
The Gulf of Naples is scattered with coves, beaches, caves and cliffs that captivate the eye of modern travellers just like in the past they inspired the authors of watercolours, gouaches and paintings, blown away by the charm of this city set in a superb position among the "lands of fire". The Gulf stretches from Monte di Procida to the Sorrento Peninsula, and the three major islands - Capri, Ischia and Procida - stand out of the sea as if to keep guard over the most remarkable Gulf in the world. The marvellous sea route we propose will provide a close look at the architecture overlooking the Gulf, outstanding works from the Baroque and Late Baroque periods.

Naples is a city with the structure of a novel. Its streets are full of stories asking to be written out. But Naples can only be a Baroque or a Surrealist novel, and an unaccomplished, unfinished and contradictory one ...
